Kotori Hand-stitched Pochibukuro - Nezumi
This is a hand-stitched pochibukuro or mini envelope for storage of little things such as postage stamps, paper clips, tickets etc. Available from one or set of 4 envelopes.
The color of this envelope is Nezumi literary meaning mouse. This color is used same as gray which is hai iro 灰色 (ash color), but when Tokyo was still called Edo (in 17th - 19th century), Edo city often had fires due to their wooden buildings and people did not like the word hai (ash). Therefore, even today the color gray is sometime called nezumi iro which means mouse color.
"Pochibukuro" is originally used to put money in when gifting especially to children for the New Year's Day or when tipping for special occasions.
